Ideal candidates for a volunteer experience typically:
- Exhibit an outgoing and friendly attitude
- Want to make a contribution
- Have reasonably good mobility, as most services require walking and/or pushing wheelchairs
- Can commit to at least one shift per week
Volunteer Opportunities
The volunteer opportunities at Northside's facilities range in scope and currently exist in the following primary support areas:
- Customer Service
- Patient and Family Support
- Community Outreach
Possible activities include, but are not limited to:
- Support staff in the caring of babies (Atlanta location)
- Taking photos of newborns (Atlanta location)
- Working in the gift shop
- Delivering flowers
- Transporting/escorting patients/help with wayfinding
- Visiting and cheering patients
- Assisting and supporting patient families
- Helping at the information desks
- Performing puppet shows in elementary schools (Atlanta location)
